Our Tropical Lager Collaboration with Newt Brew

We’ve teamed up with our friends at Newt Brew to bring you something special: a 5% Tropical Lager that bridges the gap between a juicy pale ale and a crisp, refreshing lager.

This isn't your average collaboration, it all started with a competition win and a very special packet of yeast.

How it Started:

Newt Brew are best known for producing brilliant organic cask beers, but when they won a batch of experimental SH45 yeast in a Charles Faram competition, we decided to team up and do something exciting with it.

SH45 is an exceptional lager yeast engineered to push thiol, meaning it actively unlocks hidden tropical and stone fruit flavours bound deep inside the hops during fermentation.

To give this yeast the stage it deserved, Newt Brew stepped out of their traditional cask comfort zone, moving this brew into keg and can.

Pushing the Yeast: Citra, El Dorado & Krush

Because SH45 is designed to bring out massive fruit character, we decided against using standard noble lager hops. Instead, we pushed the yeast to its absolute limit with an extreme hop bill:

  • Citra: Delivers vibrant tropical citrus and zesty brightness.

  • El Dorado: Brings ripe peach and sweet pineapple tones.

  • Krush: Layers in juicy guava and soft stone fruit notes.

The result is a beer that tricks the senses in the best way possible. It gives you the immediate impression and aromatic punch of a juicy pale ale, loaded with vibrant stone fruit and tropical notes, but finishes with the snappy, clean, and crisp finish of a classic lager.

Tasting Notes

  • CRISP: A clean, snappy lager finish that perfectly balances the juicy hop intensity.
  • EXOTIC: Lush layers of guava, ripe peach, and sweet pineapple unlocked by SH45 yeast.
  • BRIGHT: A vibrant pop of tropical citrus and lively hop aromas from Citra and Krush.
