The Return of Our Very First Special: The Nelson IPA
Back in 2021, we opened our doors on the Leith Shore with our core range of four beers. We were a brand-new setup, just getting to grips with the kit, but we immediately wanted to see what else we could do. Enter our very first "special"—a Nelson IPA.
Five years later, we are bringing it back. It is a celebration of our heritage, a nod to how far we’ve come, and a perfect tie-in for a massive weekend at the taproom, celebrating Matariki.
This IPA is built on a smooth, golden malt base with a selection of oats for a soft, pillowy texture. By keeping the bittering low and the mouthfeel velvety, the hops do all the heavy lifting.
The beer is a pure showcase for one of the most distinctive hops grown in New Zealand—Nelson Sauvin. Because this hop shares a natural synergy with the Sauvignon Blanc wines produced in the same region, it delivers an abundance of tropical fruit character and a clean, deeply refreshing finish.
