To celebrate International Women's Day last month, 'Women In Beer' and 'Glasladies Beer Society' joined Moonwake and their brewery in Leith for the International Women's Collaboration Brew Day. Besides brewing a beer together, we also hosted workshops held by women in the industry. This created opportunities to network and support women on their journey, whether it's their passion, career, or if they're just looking for a new hobby!
🍺 About the beer:
The beer that we created is an IPA with Salvo™ hop extract, which maximises the aromas of tropical fruit, red berries & apricot of the Lotus hops. A complementary malt bill of Munich, Vienna & oats give a sweet bready base balanced with a gentle bitterness.
We launched the beer across 20+ venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow, where beer drinkers could join us at The Southern in Edinburgh and Grunting Growler in Glasgow.
What is International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day?
IWCBD is a worldwide annual event that takes place in conjunction with International Women’s Day. It's meant for groups and breweries to come together with their communities and local groups to celebrate women in the beer industry, and to create and release collaboration beers, raising funds for women’s causes.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to the WiB Mentorship Programme that provides practical assistance to career development of women in the industry, and also to Tea in the Pot, a Glasgow charity that provides support and companionship to women. All malt was kindly donated by Simpsons Malt to support IWCBD.
