THURSDAY 6TH - SATURDAY 8TH
FEBRUARY 2025
MOONWAKE TAPROOM
6A TOWER STREET, LEITH
EH6 7BY
We would love you to join us at Moonwake Taproom on The Shore in Leith to celebrate Waitangi Day over the course of three days.
Waitangi Day is the national day of New Zealand and marks the anniversary of the initial signing – on 6 February 1840 – of the Treaty of Waitangi, which is regarded as the founding document of the nation.
To celebrate we’ll be highlighting Moonwake beers made with NZ hops, brewed by our Kiwi head brewer and co-founder. We also have our exclusive Kiwi Sour that is launching at the taproom, with live music to accompany the festivities. All joined together by amazing kai (food)!
6TH FEB - 7PM: New Zealand themed pub quiz
An evening packed with questions related to your favourite island in the Pacific, where winners get a £50 bar tab! Free to enter, featuring Loser's prizes, best team name prize, with lots of craft beers, wines and spirits!
7TH FEB - 5PM: Launch of Kiwi Sour with Uncle Jack's Band
A wee taste of home for our Head Brewer, Vinny: a sour beer loaded with Kiwifruit. The malt grist is packed with both Golden Naked Oats and Flaked Oats for a silky, creamy mouthfeel, which gives balance to the tart kiwi. We’ve used a touch of Nelson Sauvin hops to heighten the gooseberry flavour reminiscent of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. A true slice of Aotearoa made in Alba. Be the first to try this 5.5% sour beer at our exclusive launch!
To top it off, we are joined by Uncle Jack's Band in the evening for a full celebratory experience!
8TH FEB - 7PM: Waitangi Day Celebration
On the Saturday we will celebrate with music, food, and a carefully curated kiwi playlist to go with the evening!
It shall be a celebration of all things Kiwi including beers brewed in the UK with New Zealand hops and of course all of our beers designed by our Head Brewer, Vinny, from New Zealand. We shall have a menu on hand highlighting our beers brewed with Kiwi hops so you can discover the different qualities they create in our beers.
