We have brewed two collaboration beers with our pals Full Circle Brew Co from Newcastle. The first brew at their place was a West Coast Pilsner, which we complemented by making a West Coast IPA at our brewery in Edinburgh.
Full Circle is a craft brewery based in Hoults Yard, Newcastle, housing great beers and an award-winning taproom since 2018.
Both our head brewers have known each other for quite a while. We have quite a similar setup and ethos in that we both prioritise investment in our brew kits and use quality ingredients to brew great beer. Together we brewed, with precision and mindful intent, a West Coast Pilsner and a West Coast IPA at each other’s breweries.
Our West Coast IPA is a true American-style IPA with big punchy notes of pine, resin and grapefruit. It was a beautiful opportunity to use some different hops in this beer, Chinook, Cascade and Columbus. The beer was also dry-hopped with Strata and Amarillo giving it huge orange and grapefruit notes on the nose.
A West Coast IPA has been on our ‘to-brew’ list for a while now. Our core range IPA is West Coast inspired but at a more sessionable 5% while this IPA is a punchier 6% – a proper West Coast.
It was fantastic to have Jordan from Full Circle with us for the brew day. He’d never been to Edinburgh before so it was fantastic to show them around, the sun really showed up for them and our little adventures around The Shore, Leith and into town.
For Scott our brewer, it was the first collaboration he was involved in from start to finish. He found it to be a really exciting journey.
He and our content creator David went down to Newcastle initially to brew at West Coast Pilsner at Full Circle. They took inspiration from us using Nelson Sauvin and they added one of their favourite hops Simcoe in this ultimately refreshing beer.
West Coast IPA

This West Coast IPA is laced with hops; Chinook, Columbus & Cascade are a classic trifecta for this style providing notes of resin, pine and subtle grapefruit. Strata and Amarillo deliver orange, passion fruit & dank aromas. One of our favourite styles, balancing a full copper body with a satisfying hop bite.
