We paired up with Azimut Brasserie from Bourdeaux to learn from one another and share our adventures and creativity. These passions are reflected in the two beers we made together, one in Bordeaux and one in Leith, Edinburgh.
In July 2022, we went to Bordeaux to brew with Azimut, who have been around for six years, they were one of the first craft beer breweries in Bordeaux. They’re really on that early first wave of craft beer in France.
They have the same spirit as us, they want to make easy-drinking beer that everyone can enjoy, regardless of background, they don’t want to reinvent the wheel they just want to make beer well.
We brewed a Session NEIPA using the Vista hop for the first time which was exciting, it got to the mid-forties in the heat that day! We got to see France on Bastille Day and even went to a couple of shared tap takeovers and met the beer scene over there which is really lovely.
In November, we welcomed Azimut to Scotland for the first time. Together we brewed a Breakfast IPA. It’s got a traditional malt bill, similar to a New England IPA which makes it bready with a hint of honey. We’re adding lactose to give it more body and to make the juicy, tropical flavours sing. Working with Azimut has been a dream. They’re fun, and exciting and bring really good energy with them.
