Moonwake Pale Ale balances drinkability and hop character to create a sessionable Pale Ale. Maris Otter barley and oats give a smooth mouthfeel and golden body. Azacca and Mosaic hops in the whirlpool are complemented by dry-hopping with Citra to deliver an array of tropical flavours, such as mango, lychee and berries.
We went for a classic- style Pale Ale which is accessible and easy-drinking. We used classic, North American hops Citra, Azacca and Mosaic which are perfect for the style.
We are mindful to treat each beer individually here at Moonwake with the intention to brew them true to style. For our Pale Ale, we use a classic water profile style originating from Burton-on-Trent, a location that is important for the heritage of brewing in Britain.
Moonwake Pale Ale won a bronze award for Best Scottish Pale Ale in the Society of Independent Brewer's regional keg awards in October 2023.
This beer has also been featured in Ferment Magazine and The Morning Advertiser.
This beer is slightly different to our others because we have used British malt, Maris Otter for the base which is classic and gives you a malty backbone and a rich finish along with the fruit flavours provided by the hops.
It's 4.2% alcohol by volume so it's a beer you can enjoy by a pint and pleasurably have a few of them without being overwhelmed. We added oats to this beer too which gives it a smoother, rounded mouthfeel.
